IRCA Group steps towards its Climate Strategy, focusing on reducing direct (Scope 1) and indirect (Scope 2) greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, In the coming years, IRCA will take further actions to reduce GHG emissions along the entire value chain, setting comprehensive targets for Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions.
Scope 1: All emissions directly related to the company's operations (ie natural gas)
Scope 2: All indirect emissions resulting from the consumption of electricity purchased from the grid.
Scope 3: UPSTREAM: Purchased goods and services, Fuel-and-energy-related activities (not included in Scope 1 or 2), Waste generated in operations, Capital goods, Upstream transportation and distribution; DOWNSTREAM: Downstream transportation and distribution

GHG Emission Targets - Scope 1 and 2

One of the most significant levers is covering all our electricity consumption with renewable energy, either purchased through Guarantees of Origin (GOs) or self-produced through photovoltaic (PV) plants, already operational in 9 of our facilities, and whose number will be increased with various new installations.
Additional levers defined are the IoT-integrated monitoring systems implementation.

Our decarbonization strategy includes other actions, like additional energy efficiency, natural gas substitution in production processes and transitioning our company car fleet to more hybrid or electric vehicles. An important analysis of these decarbonization levers has already begun, to identify the operational solutions that are most effective for GHG emission reduction strategy.
